Nanjing - Fuzi Miao District

Hi there,
We have arrived in Nanjing. We took the train from Shanghai. Nanjing is a beautiful city, much different than any other city we have seen in China. We are staying in a district close to the Fuzi Miao or Confucious Temple. This temple boasts what is said to be the largest statue of Confuci us in all of China. The temple borders the Quinhai river once very polluted but was cleaned in the 1990's and hosts river boat tours for tourists. The tour boats have been created as they might have once looked in the Song dynasty. At night the temple and grounds are lit and it is breath takingly beautiful. Here are a few photos that we took when we first arrived.

Arrived Safe and Sound in Shanghai

Hi there,
Well we have arrived safely and are VERY tired. I think we calculated that we have been awake for more than 30 hours now. We miss Mara so much!!! There were many little children her age on the plane to remind us of our little bug. We are trying very hard to stay awake until 10:00PM China time, right now we are just giddy and silly. We did do a little sight seeing and had a fantastic meal of shrimp wonton soup and beef noodles. We are in a hotel next to the Shanghai train station which in itself is impressive. The digital billboards remind me of Tokyo or Times Square in NYC. We did stop in to see where we would be having breakfast in the morning only to see what's on the menu; tiny turtles and little crabs delicately bound in string nicely displayed in a little fridge. Yummm...:)

We leave first thing tomorrow morning for Nanjing by train. Which means that we will not see much of Shanghai. If we get it together we will head for the bund quickly in the morning to catch some of the incredible skyline.

Hope you are all doing well. Mara we love you and are thinking of you always, hugs and kisses, mommy and daddy.

Welcome...

Hi everyone, we are off to China once again this time to greet our little Lyla and bring her home. We are absolutely thrilled. Mara is especially excited to be a big sister. Lyla is currently 15 mos old and living in Jiangyin China.

We are busily packing and making arrangements for Mara while Lee and I travel to Nanjing, Bejing and then home before Christmas.

If you feel like tuning in, please do. We will try to post a note and some photos here when we can to let you know what we are up to while in China. We will be thinking of you at here at home and wish you the very best while we are away. And if we don't see you before, have a very Merry Christmas and Holiday Season!

Hugs, Lesley
